'Girls' Star Allison Williams Auctions Lunch For Charity

Though the characters of HBO's "Girls" are often labeled as narcissistic, it seems that IRL, they think about more than just their dating woes.

Allison Williams, who plays Marnie on the critically acclaimed HBO show, is auctioning off lunch to benefit Citizens of the World Charter School-Silver Lake, a public school in Los Angeles that promotes socioeconomic diversity.

The Charity Buzz auction has hit $1,800 as of Monday afternoon.

"Girls," a series about four 20-something friends living in Brooklyn, N.Y., and known for embracing controversial topics, nabbed two Golden Globes Sunday night. Writer and star Lena Dunham won Best Actress in a Comedy Series, and the series itself won Best Comedy Or Musical TV Series.

Williams apparently maintains a level head about it all. She recently told HuffPost in an interview:

"I go to the same exercise classes. I still take the subway. I eat at the same places. I like to wake up as late as I always liked to wake up. It's all the same and I'm still trying to be in more stuff. I'm still hearing, "No." No matter what stage of career you reach, you're still going to be denied roles and that's a very important thing to realize. Everything is business as usual except this one, tiny caveat: I'm on this awesome show that changes small things in a big way."

This past year, a number of notable celebrities auctioned off items to benefit their favorite causes. The star who raked in the most cash on Charity Buzz was Bono of U2. VIP seats, a backstage meet-and-greet and a signed guitar scored $212,000 for the Happy Hearts Fund and Artists for Peace in Justice.
